Schroeder seeks to increase trade ties

German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder arrived in China for a four-day official visit aimed at promoting closer economic ties between the two countries and securing Germany's foothold in China's import boom.

Schroeder was accompanied by his justice and transport managers and a delegation of 38 executives from Germany's largest companies.
