SCO talks deliver progress with Iran

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad issued a rallying cry to China, Russia and central Asian nations at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) talks on Thursday, calling on them to resist a “domineering” US. Ahmadi-Nejad, whose presence as an observer has dominated the meeting in Shanghai, also invited the SCO member nations – China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan – to energy talks in Tehran. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Iran was “ready to negotiate” on ending its nuclear development issues after being presented with a package of incentives by SCO members. The incentives proposal was originally made at the beginning of June by the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.
