Edinburgh's Napier University became the latest foreign higher education institution to announce a move into the Chinese market, unveiling plans to build a campus on the grounds of Zhengzhou University of Light Industry in central China's Henan Province. It is the first Scottish university to open a China branch – a move trumpeted by Scotland's first minister, Jack McConnell, as an example for other Scottish companies to follow. "It would be easy to be put off by the size of China so we need to be targeted and focused in what we do, he said. Even being able to grab a small share of the economy of China will have a huge impact on Scotland in the next 20 to 30 years."
