Security firm suggests Beijing may be behind decade-long malware campaign

California-based security software firm FireEye has released a report alleging that a single entity has been executing a protracted malware assault on businesses and governments in Southeast Asia, India and the US, the interests of which appear to align closely with the Chinese government, Tech in Asia reported. According to the report, much of the attackers’ “social engineering efforts suggest the group is particularly interested in regional political, military, and economic issues, disputed territories, and media organizations and journalists who report on topics pertaining to China and the government’s legitimacy.”
