China’s Ministry of Public Security has acknowledged that most synthetic drugs sold worldwide are made in China, Caixin reported, citing a statement from ministry officials. The US Drug Enforcement Administration said in March it arrested a Chinese citizen named Tian Haijun when he arrived in America. He was accused of shipping tons of synthetic drugs into the United States from China. Zhao Zhongchen, the director of the Drug Control Bureau, said the China Food and Drug Administration imposed new controls covering 116 new psychoactive substances in October. However, he admitted the use of the Internet to handle transactions made law enforcement difficult.
