Shanghai authorities said they expected air passenger traffic through the city's two airports to triple by 2015, to more than 100m per year. By expanding and improving infrastructure at the two airports the city plans to build Shanghai into an air transport hub for Asia and the Pacific. Cargo throughput is also expected to grow, from a capacity of around 2.5m tons at present, to more than 7m tons by 2015.
