[photopress:Shanghai_graduates.JPG,full,alignright]Shanghai Municipal Employment Promotion Center has conducted a survey on starting your own career, covering some 23,000 people.
In the survey, 5.01% of the responders say that they are already on their way to starting their own careers, especially among highly-educated youths. About 22.6% of postgraduate responders show great interest in opening their own businesses. This would probably be the highest response rate shown in such a survey anywhere in the world. Similar surveys in the United States have shown single digit figure results.
There may be several factors. For example, the high unemployment rate of college graduates may prompt young people to set up their own businesses, rather than search for jobs.
