Shanghai has decided to introduce a ban on new buildings over 18 storeys in its central area, China Dailysaid.
Tall buildings are seen to be more vulnerable to outbreaks of infectious disease and were blamed for causing higher summer temperatures by changing wind flows. The concentration of skyscrapers in the Lujiazui area of Pudong was also cited as the principal reason for the ground level there sinking by up to 18mm a year.
