Shenzhen orders metro cars Bombardier

Transportation's joint venture with Changchun Car Co has received an order valued at US$141m to supply 114 cars to Shenzhen Metro. The cars will form 19 six-car trains for use on phase one of the metro system under construction in Shenzhen. The first train will be manufactured at Bombardier's facility in Germany and the remainder in Changchun, Jilin province.

The joint venture, called CARC, was formed by Adtranz of Germany and the Changchun Car Company in 1996 and became part of Canada's Bombardier when it acquired the German company in May 2001.
