Siemens plans 3G R&D center in Hangzhou

German electronics and engineering conglomerate Siemens AG announced plans to establish an advanced software research and development center this year in Hangzhou, targeting the 3G mobile phone market, part of US1.33bn worth of investments in China over the next few years. Hao Ruiqiang, CEO of Siemens China, said the new R&D center was part of the company's build-up of its 3G operations in China ahead of a government announcement on standards and licenses expected sometime this year.
