Sinovel Wind to establish Dalian Base

Beijing-based wind turbine producer Sinovel Wind plans to establish a wind industry base in the Changxing Island Harbor Industrial Zone of Dalian, Liaoning Province.

Wind turbinesA wind industry base which will mainly manufacture 3-5MW turbines, is to be established in the Changxing Island Harbor Industrial Zone of Dalian, Liaoning Province.

It is expected to cover 40 hectares and receive total investment of $30 million. The base is expected to begin production before December 2010 and reach annual production value of $60 million.

JLM Pacific Epoch said previous reports showed that Sinovel Wind expects to manufacture 2,000 sets of 1.5MW wind turbines and 100 sets of 3MW turbines in 2009, placing it among the top five manufacturers globally.

However, this is not always to the benefit of locals. In the United States there have been serious complains. What they want is that the turbines should be built as far as possible from homes.
Some neighbors of turbines said they are constantly disturbed by vibrations they can feel inside their bedrooms, the inability to sleep and a persistent hum that can’t be drowned out by earplugs or masked with background noise.
Freep reported James Manning of J.W. Great Lakes Wind LLC, a Cleveland wind developer, who said, "If you make the setback a mile, there will be no more wind farms, I guarantee."
