Slight fall in car production

China's car output
reached 158,600 vehicles in May, 8,300 fewer than in April but up 90 per cent from last May,
according to Nation-al Bureau of Statistics figures. Production in the first five months of the
year soared 105 per cent to 724,200 units.
By contrast, output of trucks and buses
dropped by 40 per cent and 26 per cent respectively in the month. No reason was given for
the declines.
