Smugglers could face death penalty

State media reported that three Malaysians accused of smuggling seven kg of the hallucinogenic drug ketamine into China in January, the largest drug bust this year, could face the death penalty if convicted. Ketamine, a chemical anesthetic, is now on the rise in China's club scene, as a growing number of foreign drug smugglers, particularly from Southeast Asia, are entering China to supply the recreational drug, according to the report.
