Software sales volume grows to US$61 billion

[photopress:software.gif,full,alignright]The volume of China’s software sales grew 23% year-on-year in 2006 to US$61 billion.

The Ministry of Information Industry (MII) has predicted the country’s market for software and information services will reach RMB1 trillion by 2010. At the moment, foreign products dominate China’s software market but the ministry forecasted domestic-made software and information services would exceed 65% of the market share by 2010.

Chen Ying of MII said competition among basic software producers remained strong in 2006.
