Sony Ericsson unveils R&D plan

Sony Ericsson said it increased its stake in Beijing Ericsson Putian Mobile Communications from 10% to 51% and plans to center regional R&D activities there. Sony Ericsson took over 41% held by LM Ericsson and Ericsson (China) after the deal was cleared by the Ministry of Communications. Terms were not disclosed. Other shareholders in the company, to be renamed Beijing SE Putian, include China's Putian Co, Nanjing Panda Electronics and Yung Shing. Sony Ericsson claims fifth spot in global mobile market share.
