Some China-related numbers you may have missed:

2: The number of people killed in Beijing’s Dashilan shopping district during a random stabbing spree by a drunk man over the weekend. Another 12 people were injured.

217k: The number of foreigners who held work permits in China at the end of 2008.

170: The number of children born with birth defects per thousand in China. 8% of newborn deaths can be attributed to birth defects.

$585k: The price of the world’s most expensive dog, a Tibetan mastiff recently purchased by a Chinese millionaire in Xi’an.
