China produced 1.049m vehicles in the first four months of this year, 23.1 per cent more than in the same period of last year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. Passenger car output totalled 267,900, a yearon- year increase of 27.6 per cent.
The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers reported that sales of domestically produced vehicles in the four months rose by 39 per cent over the same period last year to 982,000 units. Sales in April reached a monthly record of 339,600 units, 16.6 per cent up on March. According to the association, truck sales in April increased by 53 per cent year-on-year to 96,100 units, while passenger car sales totalled 96,100 units, a 38 per cent increase.
