The H7N9 bird flu might have infected twice as many people as the China’s government reported, according to analysis by researchers at the University of Hong Kong, Bloomberg reported. While China’s government reported that 103 have fallen ill from the virus, the report says that there may be between 90 to 120 ill adults who haven’t been detected because their symptoms are mild. The WHO and China’s government maintain that there is no evidence to suggest that H7N9 can be transmitted between humans. To date, 20 people have died, mostly elderly, and 103 have become ill from the H7N9 outbreak.
