Japanese chemicals giant Sumitomo Chemical will build a plant for making liquid crystal display materials in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, Nikkei English News said. The plant will begin making polarizing films and light guides next year to supply Sharp and other LCD makers in the city. Nikkei said that within three years, the US$73 million venture will have an annual production capacity of 35 million sheets of polarizing material and 10,000 tons of light guide material, making it China largest LCD materials plant.
