Electronics retailer Suning Appliance has announced plans to expand 34% this year, Bloomberg reported. Anticipating increased consumer spending arising from China’s US$586 billion stimulus package, China’s largest electrical appliance retailer by market capitalization intends to open 200 stores in smaller cities and 100 new shops in rural towns. The company currently operates 885 stores across China. While Suning has decided not to expand domestically through acquisitions, it announced on December 31 that it will purchase Citicall Retail Management, gaining 22 stores in Hong Kong in a US$28 million deal.
