A survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) of executives at 94 foreign and Hong Kong companies engaged in business on the mainland found that 26% of the executives said that their firms were profitable. The survey focused on companies involved in financial services, consumer goods and motorized vehicles. PWC's poll found that 18% of the companies had an exit strategy, yet 82% of the executives surveyed believed it would be difficult to close operations and leave China. Around 50% of the companies represented in the survey planned to expand business or investment "significantly" over the coming years, the poll found.
