Suzhou Industrial Park becomes model of China-Singapore cooperation

Suzhou Industrial Park is an important cooperation project between the two governments of China and Singapore. The annual revenue has increased from RMB30 million in the beginning, to nearly currenly something like RMB10 billion. The gross regional product exceeded RMB100 billion, increasing nearly 100 times since its inception.

The level of per capita GDP in the park is close to that of Singapore.

In the past 15 years Suzhou Industrial Park raised more than RMB100 billion yuan in tax revenues. Its registered capital grew to more than RMB130 billion, and created 500,000 jobs. Suzhou Industrial park has already become an important window for China’s opening to the world and also a successful example of Sino-foreign economic and technical cooperation.

Since April 1994, the Suzhou Industrial Park organized more than 2,000 people to go to Singapore for training. In the meantime, a large number of experts, officials and entrepreneurs from Singapore have come to the park to get a ckearer uderstanding of the situation.

The Suzhou Industrial Park has become a model for many areas of China. More than 30,000 people have come to the zone on study tours.

English People’s Daily Online reports that in Jiangsu Province, the City of Suqian plans to spend the next 10 years cloning a Suzhou Industrial Park.

The Sino-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development Company has signed a letter of intent in Suqian with the Nantong Economic Development Zone with the intent of spending 10-15 years building an international technology New District and an ecological business Park on the north wing of Sutong Bridge.
