The treasured south building of the Peace Hotel in Shanghai along the Bund (formerly the Palace Hotel) is the soon-to-be-unveiled Swatch Art Peace Hotel. The name is not, perhaps, to everyone’s taste.
This wing of the hotel will have seven suites and 18 what are called atelier rooms in which internationally acclaimed artists will live and work.
The ground floor will showcasewatches by Swatch Group which is perhaps are better known for inexpensive timepieces of admittedly excellent design. On the first floor will be an art gallery and there will be a restaurant called Shook!
HotelWord Network reports the Swatch Art Peace Hotel is scheduled to open June 2010 under the management of the YTL Hotels’ group.
