Taiwan allows direct investment

Taiwan has promulgated new rules that allow local enterprises to invest directly in mainland China, Reuters reported. The new rules, applicable from the beginning of August, put into effect changes that were agreed by Taiwan's cabinet last year, when it also approved limited direct trade links with the mainland. However, the rules still retain limits on investments in strategic sectors such as defence and infrastructure.
