China Friendship Publishing Company has sued Alibaba Group’s consumer-focused e-commerce site Taobao.com and one of the site’s store owners, surnamed Yang, for copyright infringement in the Beijing Dongcheng District People’s Court, reports Strait News.

The publisher claims Yang and others sold pirated copies of Dao Mu Bi Ji (roughly translated as ‘Notes from a Grave Robber’), a book it published in late 2008.

China Friendship Publishing has asked Taobao to provide compensation of RMB 200,000 and a public apology for providing sales channels for pirated materials.
