50k: The number of Chinese companies that are reported to have been effected by the closing of Moscow’s Cherkizovsky Market on June 29 by local authorities amid safety and smuggling concerns. The closing of Eastern Europe’s largest daily wholesale market has cost Chinese firms an estimated US$5.85 billion.
$146: The amount a Japanese businessman in Wuhan was ordered to pay for "spiritual damages", in addition to giving a public apology, to one of his female Chinese employees who he falsely accused of stealing his pants.
$2,928: The amount of damages that a customer in Shanghai is suing his barber for because he claims the barber cut his hair too short, exposing his bald spot more than ever.
36,811: The number of couples who filed for divorce in Shanghai in 2008, 284 fewer than in 2007. This marked the second consecutive year-on-year decline of divorces in Shanghai after the city saw a continuous year-on-year increase in divorces from 1978 until 2006.
