The Numbers: Gaokao, North Korean tourism, sales of property and computers

Some China-related numbers you may have missed:

10m: The number of Chinese high school students who took the national college entrance exams (gaokao) over the weekend, down 3.8% from last year. It was the first decline in seven years

24: The size of the first group to travel with Shanghai’s Jinjiang Tour Agency to North Korea. Beijing awarded the country tourist destination status last year

19.7%: The month-on-month rise in property sales for real estate developer Vanke in May. Sales totaled US$938 million

40m: The number of personal computers sold in China in 2008. Beijing has issued a new regulation that will require all computers sold in the country to come with software to block websites featuring content deemed unsuitable for young people. The regulation will take effect on July 1
