The Numbers: Graduates with jobs, movie theater revenues, PLA diet and May's FDI

Some China-related numbers you may have missed:

48%: The percentage of graduating university students in Shanghai who have signed work contracts by the end of May, according to MyCOS HR Digital Information, a Beijing-based HR consultancy

$614m: The total amount China’s movie theaters raked in for 2008, a 26.7% increase from 2007

$146m: The expected annual cost of the new richer protein diet that the People’s Liberation Army will introduce to troops on July 1. The “protein project” will include a 40% increase in the amount of meat served and a 20% jump in the total number of calories per meal

17.8%: The decrease in foreign direct investment in China for the month of May. May’s fall to US$6.38 billion marked China’s eighth consecutive monthly decline in FDI, although May’s contraction was narrower than April’s 22.51% fall.
