The official death toll from explosions Wednesday at a chemical storage facility in Tianjin has risen to 112, with 95 more people missing, Bloomberg reported, citing state media. Among those missing are 85 firefighters, according to a Xinhua report. Officials acknowledged that first responders did not know what was on fire and doused the flames with water, causing more explosions. Officials ordered the evacuation of everyone within a 2-mile radius of the explosion site Saturday after a change in wind direction and following media reports that the chemicals stored at the warehouses may have included up to 700 tons of sodium cyanide. The blasts also left 722 people hospitalized, including 58 in critical or serious condition.
