Oil tankers and ships carrying “hazardous products” have been barred from docking at the port city of Tianjin following massive explosions killed at least 44 people and left hundreds injured, Bloomberg reported. Other goods also had their shipments stalled: BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto Group said iron ore shipments were disrupted, while another vessel was prevented from loading steel. Meanwhile, The New York Times reported that Beijing had sent more than 200 hazardous-chemical specialists in protective suits to investigate the blast as authorities sought to constrict the flow of information following the blast, which appeared to result from an enormous regulatory failure.
