China’s anti-corruption unit announced an investigation into one of the country’s top economic planners, Bloomberg reported. Liu Tienan, a vice chairman at the National Reform and Development Commission (NDRC), is under investigation for “serious discipline violations,” the Ministry of Supervision said Sunday in a one-sentence statement on its website. The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection is conducting the investigation, according to state-owned news agency Xinhua. The investigation into the NDRC official is part of a larger strike against corruption marshaled by new President Xi Jinping, according to Willy Wo-lap Lam, a professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
