According to the National Holiday Office of China, holiday travel over the October 1 National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival period saw 228 million tourists during the holiday, of which 52.77 million were overnight tourists, and 176 million were day-trip visitors.The 39 key tourist cities that are in the holiday forecast system – including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Xi’an – received 87.09 million tourists over the eight-day holiday. Of these, 17.93 million were overnight stays and 69.16 million were day-trips.
Visit Our China said that according to the report, tourism revenues reached RMB100.7 billion, an increase of 26.4% compared with the National Day holiday in 2008.
