Toyota Motor (TM.NYSE, 7203.TYO) and Nissan Motor (7201.TYO) posted double-digit growth in China sales in April, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing earnings reports. Toyota’s April car sales were up 12% from a year earlier, to 85,800 vehicles, and Nissan’s sales were up 15%, to 118,500 vehicles. For the January-April period, Toyota’s China sales were up 20% from a year earlier, while Nissan posted a 19% gain. Toyota launched two no-frills models in recent months, the Vios and the new Yaris, both specifically designed for and popular in the China market. Nissan cited strong demand for its new X-Trail SUVs.
