Toyota Motor Corp said its vehicle sales in China for the first half of the year were virtually unchanged from the same period one year ago, Reuters reported, citing a statement on the Japanese automaker’s website. Vehicle sales stood at 284,000 units in the January to June period, compared to 285,000 vehicles sold in the first six months of 2008. By contrast, the 2008 figure represented a 34% year-on-year sales increase and was double the industry’s growth rate of 17%. Sales in June of this year grew by 33% year-on-year to 57,000 units.
