US toy retailer Toys "R" Us has recalled thousands of art sets made in China due to excessive levels of lead in some black watercolor paints and the packaging of Imaginarium Wooden Coloring Cases, AP reported. There were no reports of injuries, Toys "R" Us has terminated its contract with Funtastic, a Hong Kong-based distributor that had the art sets manufactured through a company in Ningbo. A total of 8,300 kits have been sold in the US since October of last year. Earlier this month, Toys "R" Us removed about 160,000 vinyl baby bibs from store shelves as a safety precaution when a China supplier was found to have lead levels exceeding company standards. Research shows children exposed to lead may lead to reduced intelligence, hyperactivity and attention deficit disorder.
