The textile trade dispute between China and the EU will have limited impact on Hong Kong's textile industry because the restrictive measures are aimed at textiles made in and exported from the Mainland, state media reported, citing Hong Kong government economist Kwok Kwok-chuen. Kwok said the Mainland's textile re-exports through Hong Kong only accounted for 4% of the SAR's total exports last year, and some have suggested that the current trade row could actually benefit Hong Kong, since some manufacturers may return to the city in the short term to escape the protectionist measures.
