Trade surplus may reach US$130bn

China's trade surplus may hit a new high of between US$120 billion and US$130 billion in 2006, said Bi Jingquan, deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission. The official China Securities Journal reported customs figures showing China's trade surplus hit US$101.8 billion in 2005, the twelfth consecutive year in which China posted a trade surplus. Bi made the forecast at an international symposium on public fiscal policy reform last weekend.
