Treated seawater will be part of China's water supply

Desalinated ocean water will eventually account for more than 1/3 of the water supply in China's coastal provinces, and by 2010 treated seawater is predicted to make up 16%-24% of coastal water supply, Agence France Presse reported, citing state media. Initial projections suggest costs will total around US$6.9 billion – officials are planning for private sector investment.
