Trump says he is not in a rush to complete trade deal

March 14, 2019

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he is in no rush to reach a trade deal with China and insisted that intellectual property protection is a non-negotiable term of the deal, said Reuters.

A date is yet to be set for the summit that Trump and Xi Jingping were expected to hold this March at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property in Florida, and in-person talks between trade teams have not been held in more than two weeks.

Trump recently ended a summit in Vietnam with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un without a peace deal. Reuter said that Trump recognized that Xi may be wary of coming to a summit without an agreement in hand after the summit with the North Korean leader.
