Trump tells US companies to find China alternatives

US President Donald Trump on Friday said he was ordering American companies to “immediately start looking for an alternative to China, including bringing your companies HOME and making your products in the USA,” amid further escalation of the ongoing trade war between the US and China, reported CNBC.

Trump also said he was ordering all US postal carriers, including FedEx, Amazon, UPS and United States Post Office, “to SEARCH FOR & REFUSE all deliveries of Fentanyl from China (or anywhere else!).”

Trump’s demands followed China announcing it would slap retaliatory tariffs of 5% and 10% on roughly $75 billion in US imports. The US later responded by increasing tariggs on $250 billion of Chinese imports from 25% to 30% on October 1 and from 10% to 15% on $300 billion of Chinese goods due to start on September 1.
