Two China airlines order Boeing, Airbus planes

[photopress:air_xiamen_airlines.jpg,full,alignright]Xiamen Airlines has placed a $1.9 billion order with Boeing for 25 single-aisle 737 jets, with an option to buy ten more which probably made the marketing department of Boeing very happy.

The new 737-800s will help the carrier to simplify its fleet, lower operating costs and, eventually, boost returns for investors.

At the same time Shanghai Airlines is to buy five A321 planes from Airbus.

The carrier will also sell four B757 aircraft to Aircastle and lease them back which gives it capital to work with yet retains its fleet.
