Two state banks to go public

Following government subsidized restructurings and write-offs, two of China's largest state banks are planning an initial public offering, China's central bank chief said, without naming a timeline for the anticipated offering. All the four major state banks, including the Bank of China and China Construction Bank, are being groomed to better compete when the market is fully open to foreign banks in 2006.
