The US Department of Transportation gave permission to United Airlines and Air China to extend their relationship to all areas of the US. As per the new agreement, Air China will codeshare on United Airlines' Beijing-Chicago-Washington, DC and Shanghai-San Francisco-Chicago services. United Airlines will codeshare on Air China flights from Beijing to Los Angeles, New York City and San Francisco.
The two airlines planned to announce additional codeshare flights in the future.
