China and the US have agreed to Beijing setting its own timetable for currency revaluation as the two-day Strategic and Economic Dialogue drew to a close, Reuters reported. US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said talks over the renminbi’s valuation were encouraging but that the ultimate decision on the currency’s future was "of course China’s choice." China also repeated its pledges to the World Trade Organization when it came to discussions over its indigenous innovation rules, which many foreign companies see as a barrier to bidding on government procurement programs. The two countries also discussed other issues including Iran and North Korea. Hu Jintao summarized the outcome of the talks by saying "China and the United States face common tasks and shoulder important responsibilities ranging from promoting full recovery and sustainable growth of the world economy to managing regional hot spots."
