Top trade representatives of both the United States and China are organizing a resumption of talks for next week, to try and resolve the year-long trade war that has been taking place between the world’s two largest economies, confirmed White House Economic Adviser Larry Kudlow in a briefing, reported Reuters.
An official from the Office of the US Trade Representative said later that the two sides were in the process of scheduling a principal-level phone call for next week.
Gao Feng, the spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Commerce, also said earlier this week that the US must remove all punitive tariffs if a deal is reached between Washington and Beijing. At the recent G20 summit held in Osaka, Japan, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump agreed to resume trade talks after months of escalating tensions.
