US curbs more Chinese apparel

The US Commerce Department said more categories of Chinese apparel imports including trousers, shirts and yarn not covered by US actions last week would be subject to quotas after the Administration formally requests consultations with Beijing on the issue, according to media reports. The move would limit the growth of China's apparel shipment to 7.5% above the previous year and comes amid pressure from Congress and US textile and garment makers. Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai called the restrictions "unfair."
