US textile groups asked the US government to impose additional restrictions on imports from China on low-priced shirts, skirts, pajamas and swimwear, restricting annual growth in those apparel imports to 7.5% until the two countries agree on a comprehensive textile trade deal. Washington has 15 days to accept the textile groups' petition for consideration, and then another 90 days to decide whether or not to impose the restrictions. Others petitions covering knit fabric, wool trousers, synthetic filament fabric, sweaters, bras and dressing gowns are before the Bush administration.
