A US hotel-workers labor union filed charges of unfair labor practices against Anbang Insurance Group and three of its hotel operators, saying the Chinese firm and the operators failed to comply with a request for information about their ownership and sources of financing. Affiliates of Unite Here in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago filed the charges Wednesday with regional offices of the National Labor Relations Board, The Wall Street Journal reports. An Anbang spokesman declined to comment. The labor union in May requested Anbang and local hotel operators provide information on Anbang’s ownership, hotel management agreements and documents related to potential condominium conversions of hotel properties. Unite Here said federal labor law grants the union access to information about practices that affect unionized workers at the hotels. Anbang purchased Strategic Hotels & Resorts Inc. from Blackstone Group LP last year, taking control of Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, Westin St. Francis and Fairmont Chicago hotels.
