US on China talks: Deeds not words

The US said it made "measured progress" in annual talks with China on Monday over volatile trade and market issues, the Financial Times reported, citing US officials. In one agreement, China promised to crack down on piracy of US products, but US Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez said that Washington would observe China's new anti-piracy campaign in the coming months to "be sure that commitments translate into results". On the textile front, China and the US failed to reach an agreement, but the US has promised to exercise more caution when applying restrictions against Chinese textile exports.
