US slaps restrictions on technology sales to China

The US Department of Commerce further added to existing trade tensions with China on Wednesday with the inclusion of 44 Chinese entities to an export control list on grounds of national security threats or ties with the Chinese military.

The list imposes heavy restrictions on buying goods from US companies that are under the control of the US Export Administration Regulations, according to a notice in the Federal Register.

The named entities include state-owned China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp. and China Electronic Technology Group Corp., along with any of their subsidiaries. One of the charges warranting inclusion on the list is involvement in procuring American technologies for unauthorised military use in China, the department said.
